ENDESA is studying the adaptation of the AGC systems of the electrical systems in non-mainland territories (NMTs) to the new Secondary Regulation System (SRS). The new SRS has been developed for integration into the European PICASSO platform, which entails a change in the role of ENDESA's AGC systems: they would shift from frequency regulation to power regulation, while keeping the contribution of secondary regulation separate from primary regulation.
The AGC adaptations depend on the dominant generation technology in each system. The design of these adaptations is based on the analysis of primary and secondary responses obtained from the corresponding tests performed on the generating units. The study also investigates not only the secondary response of the individual units, but also the response of the aggregated set of units to a command from the AGC regulator.
